Mini Turkey Park, "Miniaturk", was opened on April 23, 2003.Built in the Golden Horn district of Istanbul, also constitutes part of the transformation project carried out by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in order to cleanse the bay of Haliç and bring back the old magnificence of the area. It may not have been enough to cleanse and bring back the fauna to the bay alone. It was necessary to support this transformation with projects related to culture and history. Miniaturk is a further step in the renewal process of the historical peninsula of the city in a way harmonious with its past characteristics.
In order for visitors to feel that they arrive in a different atmosphere the entrance to the park is provided through a slope.

The visitors are then led to a terrace where they can have a bird’s eye view of the park. Following the pathways visitors can have a close examination of the models. The second alternative is through a rubber wheeled small train.
One of the important elements in the project is the model of the Bosphorus Bridge, which is 42 meters long and made also on the standard scale of 1/25. While walking on the bridge which is over an artificial pool visitors will see the Maiden Tower, a sailing Ottoman galley, sea vehicles and the models located on both sides of the pool.
For the relaxation and enjoyment of visitors a restaurant and a cafeteria are provided. There is a restaurant with a nice view of

the Golden Horn with indoor and outdoor dining areas. In addition to flavours of traditional Turkish cuisine, dishes appealing to all flavours are served. In the cafeteria fast-food is served on a terrace overlooking the entire park. There are shopping units where visitors can buy books, postcards, puzzles, stickers etc. about the works whose models are displayed in Miniaturk Istanbul. They can also buy other souvenirs and memorabilia.

In selecting the monumental works for the park the criterion that making the model of the work is possible has been applied. Each work reflects the technology, arts and culture of its time. They have resisted to invasions, wars and destructions. No discrimination is made whatsoever for reasons that some were
